My Brothers All
During our first meeting of the Columbian year we as a Council, found out that we could actually sing. Under the direction of our newly found choral director, Brother Steve Wise, we sang both the opening and closing odes. It was great to hear us sing in unison. Remember the second principle of our Order is Unity. It was certainly a start.
Welcome Father Raj
Just prior to the start of the meeting, we had two special guests enter the chambers. Fr. Gabriel Rajendra, who has agreed to be our Council Chaplin, when permission is granted by Fr. Jerry, and our new District Deputy Robert "Bob" Ladousier Sr. from Holy Spirit, Denver. We also had two prospective members and a newly transferred member in attendance. We are well on the way to reaching our membership goal with the addition of these potential brothers.
Carolina Blitz
That brings me to the Carolina Blitz that is currently scheduled for the weekend of September 27-28. The Carolina Blitz is a recruiting program that is designed to bring new members to the Order. We will be present at all the Masses that weekend. The Michael J. Sabella Fourth Degree Assembly, will be participating in full regalia, as will members of our council. The fourth degree members of our council will be in attendance. Our co-membership directors, John Carter and Paul Mitchell, will be making contact for sign ups. We will only need about 20 minutes of your time after each Mass. Think about signing up for the Mass you usually attend on that weekend.
Directors are in place
I'm pleased to report that all our directorship and chair positions have been filled for this Columbian year. We are going to be involved in the parish, in the community, and with the youth. Enough said.
Special Social Meeting
A date to remember is Monday August 11th. At 7:30 p.m. we will have an open social meeting with wives and family members in attendance. John Bigliardi will be preparing a light fare menu for the enjoyment of all. John Carter has sent out about 20 letters to men in the parish who have expressed interest in the Knights of Columbus. The agenda is very simple, and it is one that exemplifies the principle of Charity. We will be giving away money.
Scholarship Award and donations
The recipient of our first $500.00 scholarship in memory of John Bigliardi's daughter and granddaughter will be in attendance. In addition Fr. Jerry will be there to accept a $1,600.00 donation from the council for the building fund. These funds represent the profits from the Ad Book sale that was earmarked for this purpose. There will also be donations made to Catherine's House, Catholic Social Services, and the State golf tournament with the proceeds going to Operation Lamb. It promises to be a great night, so please plan on attending.
In tribute to our veterans
At our meeting this past Monday, we took time to remember and thank our Brother Knights who fought in the Korean Conflict "War." I didn't realize just how many there actually are. I would like to mention all their names here, but I know I would forget someone, so let me say again on behalf of the entire council Thank You all for your efforts and heartaches. You are all true patriots. The fourth principle of our Order is Patriotism.

Let us remember the following people in our prayers: Marion Reilly, William Reilly, the grandson of Phil Reilly, Geraldine Pizzo, and Steve Wise father.
In Closing, I hope that y'all will get involved in our council this year. (I'm sorry but that was just the Brooklyn coming out in me) We can't succeed without YOU. We've got a lot of "GOOD STUFF" planned for this year. Let's get involved together. Remember Unity is the second principle of the Order.

OUR Website. SEEN IT LATELY?
The Council Website is a great place to find out the latest news and upcoming events. It includes photos (when available), newsletter downloads, forms and publications from Supreme, audio and video clips from the Supreme and the council database.
If we don’t have your email, send it to Tim Vogel (Click
for address) and he will make sure it gets into the database. If you are not on the email list in the database you won’t get the username and password to access the database. It is changed from time to time to ensure our privacy.

Last but not least
We still have Adventure coupon books left, and are still available for $10.00 per book. The entire proceeds of all sales goes to our Council. We could realize $1460.00 profit. We need to get these books sold as soon as possible, they expire on Dec. 31st. There is $700 worth of dinning values in these books. Buy one or two for your own family.
