FROM THE NEW GRAND KNIGHT: I want to start by thanking all of our Brothers that will be helping our council achieve our 2007 / 2008 goals. Their efforts will make sure we not only receive Star Council, we will be supporting our community and Church. When you talk with the following Brothers please thank them for their commitment to this year’s programs:

On another note, our Patriots Team is doing a great job putting together this year’s Patriots’ Festival to take place November 10th in downtown Mooresville. This is going to be a great opportunity for St. Therese Council 7406 to stand out in our community. They need volunteers to help with the many different activities that will be taking place. This has become a regional event with national exposure. I encourage all Brother Knights to attend our next business meeting to learn more about this great event. With the venues that are planned, we have been told to expect between 20 to 40 thousand to be in attendance, we expect between 3-4 thousand veterans to participate in the Patriots walk down main street. K of C HISTORY

James Phelan is elected first Supreme Grand Knight in 1882 and serves for four years. 38 councils are created and Phelan presides personally at the institution of 22 of them.

COUNCIL OFFICERS

In last month’s Knightline, it as mistakenly reported that Chris Winters would serve as Advocate during the next year. We should have noted that Peter Browne will be serving in that capacity Tom Joy will be 1st Year Trustee rather than Ed Kane. Sorry for the error.

OFFICER INSTALLATION

On July 9 at 7:30 pm, Gary Tadvick will be officially installed as the Council’s new Grand Knight. Gary and the other new officers will all receive the jewels of their offices during the ceremony. It is requested that all those attending the ceremony wear shirt and ties to recognize the formality and importance of the ceremony. Wives are encouraged to attend.

NEW DISTRICT DIRECTOR

Outgoing Grand Knight Ken Fusaro has been appointed Deputy Director succeeding Ed Kane who has resigned to work as the Knights’ new Field Agent. Good luck to both of these active Knights in their new responsibilities.

PATRIOTS’ FESTIVAL

In one of the largest, and most meaningful community programs ever spearheaded by Council 7406, a Patriots’ Festival is being planned for November 10 along Mooresville’s Main Street. The festival is intended to put the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree principle of Patriotism into action and into the full view of the community. The festival has tremendous support from the Town of Mooresville, the Chamber of Commerce, the Mooresville School District, local businesses and civic organizations including several national groups.

The festival will honor all servicemen and women of the area, especially those who have seen combat as they fought for our country, liberty and traditions.

Activities planned include an Honor Walk for veterans, military displays form all branches, NASCAR exhibits, a character luncheon for kids, a Little Patriot’s area, a Marine Corp Birthday Celebration (Nov 10th is the Corps’ birthday), a formal flag retirement ceremony by the scouts and more.

Local news and radio stations will be on hand to cover the event.

Main Street will be lined with displays, food vendors and merchandisers, all of which will stress the theme of Patriotism. According to Chris Baker, project manager for the festival, between 20,000 and 30,000 people are expected to attend.

One of the highlights of the festival will be a parade of possibly 6,000 area veterans. Baker points out that full participation of the Council will be necessary to make this a success. As the date draws near, volunteers will be requested for various positions. Upcoming Council meetings, e-mail and Knightlines will be used to keep all brothers informed. Mark the date – November 10.

TRUSTEES’ MEETING

Grand Knight Gary Tadvick has scheduled a Trustees’ Meeting for six o’clock, July 23. The Council’s regular business meeting will follow.

LAMB

The 2007 LAMB program will be held on the weekends of October 12 and 13 and October 19 and 20. As we did last year, we’ll also collect money on the two Sundays of those weekends at Wal-Mart. Other stores participating this year will Lowes Food Stores and Harris-Teeter. Sign-up sheets will be ready in late August.
