Well we started out the month of
September on the right foot. At our social meeting on September 8,
we inducted six new members into the first degree. Let us all
welcome John Madey, Federico Montes, Tad Edwards, Michael Fusaro,
Father Jozef Fekete, and Father Gabriel Rajendra, who is our Council
Chaplin. Then on Saturday September 13, Michael Fusaro, Jim Helper,
Wesley Weaver, Fr Jozef and Fr, Raj made both their second and third
degrees in the Order.
We continued our membership on September 20 and 21 at the
Stewardship Commission Fair. Thanks to the imitative of several
members we had 2 parishioners fill out Form 100s and 4 others
express interest in the Knights. The names have been turned over to
Gary Tadvick and John Carter for follow-up regarding fraternal
benefits and membership.
The weekend of September 27 and 28 we will be holding our first
session of the Carolina Blitz. Members of the Forth Degree will be
present at all the Masses in full Regalia. Members of the council
will also be in attendance to meet prospective members, hand out
brochures, and answer any questions regarding the Knights of
Columbus. It is important that we all get involved in our membership
efforts. Remember always to have a Form 100 with you. You never know
when someone will seek you out and ask about membership in the
Knights of Columbus.
RACEWEEK
If you were at the business meeting
on September 22, you already know that through the efforts of Past
Grand Knight, Dave Smith, Lowe's Motor Speedway has sent a
Certificate of Insurance naming Knights of Columbus Council 7406 as
an additional insured for liability in the amount of $1,000,000.00
for sixty-five volunteer shuttle bus drivers. I want to personally
thank Brother Dave Smith for a job well done on behalf of the entire
council. LET THERACES BEGIN!!!!!
This fund raising activity can only be as successful as we as a
council participate. Don't hesitate to sign up. Many members have
signed up. When the call comes, be there help us out so we can help
others. The more members of our council that sign up the more
revenue will come back to us.
UPCOMINGEVENTS
On Saturday October 4 the council
will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks at the Saint Therese
Festival. Brother Don Mayer has asked me to solicit some help for
the kitchen detail. If you can give a few hours of your time, it
would be greatly appreciated. I would have normally called on the
usual suspects who work the Pancake Breakfast, but they are already
committed for Sunday October 5. That's right Sunday October 5 is
Pancake Breakfast. Have you brought your family out to enjoy what
has become a very well received event within the Parish Community?
Again many thanks to those who make the Pancake breakfast so
successful, and a special thanks to Brother Tim Vogel for getting
the materials and assembling the two new signs that are placed out
in front of the church and PLC announcing the breakfast.
FUNDRAISERS
In addition to the October race, we
are planning two very special fund raising events. The first is the
Spaghetti and meatball extravaganza that will be held on Saturday
November 1 at the Parish Life Center after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Make
plans to attend with your entire family. It promises to be a great
time. Tickets will be on sale shortly.
The second fund raising event will be our New Years Eve party. Event
chairman Brother John Bigiardi is starting the planning of the menu
and activities for this anticipated celebration. The evening's party
will be held in the overflow room in the church building.
There will be a maximum of 180 tickets sold. The Parish Life Center
is unavailable for our use on New Years Eve because the Religious Ed
Program will be sponsoring an event for the youth at the same time.
INOUR PRAYERS
We have been asked to pray for the
following people. Please remember them not only at Mass, but during
those quiet moments when you are talking to God, one on one.
Let us pray for: Marion Reilly, William Reilly, Paul Cunningham,
Brian Winters, George & Shirley Vogel (Tim Vogel’s parents,
George is a 4th Degree Knight, Bath, NY Council) and Mike Dorian of
Council #39 If you know of a brother or family member who is sick or
in distress, please let us know so that we can add them to our pray
list.
